چکیده
We study theoretically the spin response functions using the relativistic many body theory. The spin response functions in the relativistic theory are reduced largely from the ones of the non-relativistic theory. This happens particularly to the longitudinal spin responses. This fact is able to remove the difficulty in reproducing the ratio of the longitudinal and transverse response functions seen experimentally. We use the local density approximation with the eikonal prescription of the nuclear absorption on the incoming and outgoing nucleons for the calculations of the response functions of finite nuclei. We compare the calculated results with the recent experimental results with (p, n) reactions on C and Ca.

Orthonormal spin-flavor wave functions of Lorentz covariant quark models of the Bakamjian-Thomas type are constructed for nucleon resonances. Three different bases are presented. The manifestly Lorentz covariant Dirac-Melosh basis is related to the Pauli-Melosh basis and the symmetrized Bargmann-Wigner basis that are manifestly orthogonal.

Bertsch Dept. of Physics and Institute for Nuclear Theory, FM-15 University of Washington Seattle, WA 98195 Abstract The interferometric analysis of meson correlations provides a measure of the average phase space density of the mesons in the final state. This quantity is a useful indicator of ...

We discuss the computation of two-body matrix elements from the Argonne v 18 interaction. The matrix elements calculation is presented both in particle-particle and in particle-hole angular momentum coupling. The procedures developed here can be applied to the case of other NN potentials, provided that they have a similar operator format.
